Welcome to Thimble End

From the moment you arrive, you will be charmed by the beautiful features of Thimble End. Built in the late 1700’s, with exposed beams, deep set windows and a homely welsh stone hearth, this is a part of Solva’s history perfectly presented for a holiday on the Pembrokeshire coast path.

Thimble End is a sociable, warm space. Generous, deep upholstered blue sofas and a large honey-coloured dining table create an open plan living/dining room for evenings around the hearth, while the kitchen and handy utility area lend themselves to preparing meals together. Maybe pick up some local Solva seafood and dine under the romantic outdoor pergola.

This cottage is just a stone’s throw from the Pembrokeshire coast path, which leads down to the picturesque Solva harbour. Sit by the harbour with a coffee and watch the hustle and bustle of village life go by, or wander around the shops and galleries of Lower Solva.

We had an amazing holiday in this house. The house was immaculate, the best equipped ever stayed at. The position is idyllic. We were able to walk to the harbour without putting the dogs on leads or going on a road. Once there the kids could swim or crab at high tide, or we could walk the beach, explore the rocks and swim at low tide. If you don’t fancy getting back in the car you don’t have to – Solva is lovely. That said St Davids is also gorgeous and our best discovery was Druids Haven beach. Perfect for kids and adults who don’t like crowded areas. Dogs welcome tee. Overall we could not have been happier with the house. It was a home from home and very comfortable for us. Hope to go back.
We had a lovely week staying in Solva - and walking 2mins down to the harbour along the footpath for a swim and a coffee each morning. Great walks right on the doorstep and loads to do nearby. House was very well equipped and had a beautiful garden.

The property is ideal for families, all bedrooms are spacious and spread out over the house, parents and children were able to sleep in rooms next to each away from rest of family. Ideal secure garden for young children and dog. Kitchen and utility well equipped for all needs. Excellent Wifi. Large table for eating together, both inside and outside. Beds and bedding are very comfortable. Can't fault a thing. Had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend this house.

Upper Solva is a strange little community of jumbled cottages and houses but it has a charm and our cottage was a very pleasant home for a week.
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. It had a cosy feel to it whilst also being spacious. The garden was lovely, very private and peaceful and the location is perfect for the coast path, Solva itself, St David’s and the beautiful beaches nearby.
Comfortable, well equipped cottage, beautiful part of Pembrokeshire

Located in the picture-perfect Pembrokeshire village of Solva, at Thimble End are right on hand to soak up the beautiful coastal scenery just minutes walk away from your holiday door.

St Davids Escapes

Solva is a peaceful, magical harbour village with plenty to do, and perfectly placed to explore more of the St Davids Peninsula.

St Davids Escapes

By day, visit the independent shops and galleries in Lower Solva, and pop into cafes like Mamgu Welshcakes for delicious food and coffees. Try your hand at crabbing from the harbour wall, or take a dip at high tide. In the evening, enjoy the gastropubs and restaurants serving beautiful food, or buy some local seafood caught that day to prepare back at your cottage.

St Davids Escapes

Your four-legged friend will be made to feel very welcome here and will love exploring the coastal paths which are almost literally/virtually on your doorstep! Pull on your boots and set off in either direction on the Pembrokeshire coast path to enjoy some of the best views the peninsula has to offer. Our favourite is the walk to Pointz Castle, not least because you will be rewarded with delicious ice cream!
