Every so often, a member of our team at St Davids Escapes will find themselves day dreaming about a holiday in a particular cottage, and it becomes their staff pick. This time it’s Sarah, our social media assistant, who’s found herself flicking through the photos of Cathedral House more than once since it joined our portfolio!
Hi Sarah! So, why Cathedral House?
It’s two fold really. Firstly, the location of Cathedral House really is incredible. Because it’s a first floor apartment, you’re in an elevated position looking out over the very centre of St Davids. Perching on one of those window seats with a coffee in the morning watching the city wake up would be just stunning. Secondly, the interiors are stunning. The perfect balance of cosy and stylish.
What kind of holiday would you spend here?
Cathedral House sleeps four really comfortably, so I’d love to book it with some girlfriends for a weekend catching up, eating great food and having some adventures! It would also really suit two couples, and either way the idea of sitting out on that terrace sharing a bottle of good wine with good friends is captivating.
Sounds great! Are there any other stand out features?
The open plan kitchen/dining/living area really lends itself to a group of friends socialising. The lay out means some can be preparing a meal, another at the table with a glass of bubbly and another chilling out on the sofa, and everyone can be chatting or choose to do their own thing while still being included.
What would you get up to during your stay?
I think the best way of connecting with friends is with long chats plenty of fun. So there would be plenty of time spent walking on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, taking in the breathtaking views and setting the world to rights. I’d then book an activity, something like coasteering at the Blue Lagoon with Celtic Quest Coasteering. I think trying something new is a must on holiday!
So quite an active time! how would you relax in the evening at Cathedral House?
I’d love some gentle movement after a bit of an adrenaline rush, so I would maybe book us in at a Calming Yoga class at Wild Yoga Studio in Solva. You can basically turn up in your pyjamas so that would be perfect. Followed by a nourishing home cooked meal and snuggling up to watch a film in front of the log burner. Perfection!
What would be a ‘must do’ while staying at Cathedral House?
You’re just above a fabulous cafe, so I’d definitely say a small, simple must is to pop downstairs for takeaway coffees and cakes to enjoy in the apartment gazing out at the great view. A bigger once in a lifetime opportunity if you’re staying between April and August is to book a trip to Skomer Island to see the puffins!
