In this new series of blog posts, each month a member of the team will choose their stand-out Escape from our collection of cottages in and around St Davids. The fun bit? We get to ask them all about why they’re loving it so much!
This month we’re starting with Rachael, the woman who runs the show here at St Davids Escapes. Her chosen escape is Ty Meini, a cottage in the heart of St Davids new to the portfolio.
Hi Rachael! So, why have you chosen Ty Meini?
I’ve spent some time there recently as we welcome it to St Davids Escapes, and it’s just one of those places that you don’t want to leave. It’s just a beautifully put-together place with a cosy yet spacious feel to it, with incredible attention to detail.
What do you like most about it?
The location is amazing, you’re right in the heart of St Davids. With the views of Cross Square, you really feel in the thick of it, while also being in this beautiful, peaceful space. I love it!
How would you spend a morning if you were staying at Ty Meini?
I’d pop out and get some takeaway coffees and breakfast from The Mill just up the road, and bring them back to share with the family. There’s something about sipping on a great coffee while looking out at the city slowly waking up and deciding on your plan for the day that’s just so exciting.
any other places to eat that you would head to during a stay here?
Oh, there are just so many! You’re right at the centre of St Davids! There’s The Bishops and St Davids Cross Hotel that you can literally see from the window, so if you’re after lovely gastropub-style food they’re both great. Or wander up the hill for a couple of minutes to the Really Wild Emporium for cocktails and canapes.
What’s a must-do during a stay at Ty Meini?
It’s got to be St Davids Cathedral, hasn’t it? You’re just a stone’s throw away here, so absolutely take a walk down the hill to explore it and the Bishops Palace next door. Then on your way back up, grab an ice cream from The Bench and sit on Cross Square to watch the world go by.
Where are you going to catch the best sunset nearby?
The whole of St Davids can light up at sunset, and sometimes wandering home from an evening out as the sun goes down behind the Cathedral can be magical. But I’d say Whitesands has got to be the best. Piling into the car with a thermos and a blanket, and setting up on the beach to watch the sunset over the sea is something you won’t forget for a while.
Ty Meini sleeps 5 people and welcomes 2 dogs. A week’s stay begins at £495. Click here to find out more.
