Picture the scene: it’s Boxing Day, you’ve just enjoyed your third turkey-based meal in 24 hours, and everyone is beginning to get a little restless. It’s time for that Boxing Day Walk! Here are 5 of our favourite Boxing Day Walks in Pembrokeshire.

These are a little longer than our Christmas Day Walk recommendations, as we reckon you’ll have a bit more time on your hands, but we’ve also included some shorter options in case you’ve got some great telly to get back to!

Most of these are A to B walks, so best to leave a car at one end and drive back to the start.

Solva Harbour

SOLVA TO NEWGALE

Starting at Solva Harbour, take in the stunning views over St Brides Bay as you enjoy the coast path walk to Newgale beach. With the dog ban well and truly lifted on Newgale Beach at this time of year, your pooch can enjoy some well deserved off lead time before the journey back to Solva.

Distance – 5.4 miles

Shorter option – Take a stroll along Newgale beach

WHITESANDS TO PORTHCLAIS

A beautiful walk in either direction, which can be made (a fair bit) longer by making it a circular from St Davids. Start at Whitesands Beach, and enjoy every twist and turn until you descend into Porthclais harbour.

Distance – 6.6 miles

Shorter option – Walk around St Davids Head from Whitesands

ST NONS TO SOLVA

St Nons is a must see on the coast path around St Davids. The chapel sits overlooking the sparkling sea and the ruins of the original chapel, said to be the birthplace of St David. Walk from here

Distance – 4.8 miles

Shorter option – Walk to St Nons from St Davids, then follow the coast path to Caerfai, and circle back to St Davids.

PORTHGAIN TO WHITESANDS

Make sure to pack some extra snacks for this longer, spectacular walk. Park at Porthgain, and enjoy nearly 10 miles of loveliness on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path until you come to Whitesands. Make sure to stop for a sip from your thermos at the Blue Lagoon at Abereiddy.

Distance – 9.5 miles

Shorter option – Take the much shorter stroll from Porthgain to Abereiddy.

CANASTON WOODS CIRCULAR

If the weather isn’t playing ball on Boxing Day and you want a walk that provides a bit more cover, head to Canaston Woods near Haverfordwest. The circular walk is perfect for dogs to explore, some members of the family to get their daily jog in and others to meander behind taking it all in.

Distance – 3.8 miles

Shorter option – Cut back earlier on in the circuit.
