A walk is a Christmas Day tradition for many, and in Pembrokeshire, the choices are enough to get even the least enthusiastic members of the family out for a stroll! Here are our 5 favourite Christmas Day walks in and around St Davids.

Whitesands & Carn Llidi

This walk has to be top of the Christmas list! Whitesands at low tide on Christmas Day is just heaven. Dogs can run, adults can stroll and the kids can test out any outdoor gifts Father Christmas might have brought for them. On a still day, the more energetic among the group can opt to head up Carn Llidi and get the best Christmas Day view there is!

Solva & The Gribbin

Solva is a friendly village at any time of the year, and this is never truer than on Christmas Day. Prepare to be wished a ‘Merry Christmas!’ by everyone you bump into on this wonderful walk. If you’d like a longer walk than simply around the village, head over the Gribbin from the harbour to the Gwadn beach, taking in the panoramic views as you go.

St Davids & Caerfai

A stroll around St Davids is wonderful on Christmas Day, especially if you take in the Cathedral, either for a service or simply to take in the magnificence! If you’d like to go a little further to the coast, take the walk out to Caerfai beach from the top of the tiny city. Either take a flask and sit on the cliff top gazing out to sea, or walk down to the beach for a Christmas paddle.

Abereiddy to Porthgain

This coast path walk is one of the most dramatic and stunning around Pembrokeshire. It begins with the birdseye view of the world-famous Blue Lagoon. You will then take in Traeth Llfyn, known for its steep steps down to the deserted stretch of sweeping sand. Following that is the walk along the top of the old quarry and its ruins before you reach the small fishing village of Porthgain. We recommend having a car at either end to make it easy to get home for Christmas dinner!

St Davids Airfield

This walk is underrated and deserves a place on this list. The accessibility is fantastic, so any group members with mobility issues or who like a flat, smooth walk will enjoy it as much as the rest. Ponies graze next to the path, and the airfield teams with wildlife. If you enjoy identifying birds and their song, this is the walk for you. With many paths leading off the main track and parking at each end, there’s plenty to discover and this walk can be as long or short as you desire.
