February half term is fast approaching, and you’re looking for a holiday option that will keep the kids entertained, give you a chance to let your hair down and make sure you’ve spent quality family time together. Only an hour off the M4 and with a whole host of activities to keep you going all week, St Davids Escapes can offer you the best family half term holiday in and around St Davids. Here are 7 activities we know you’ll love – one for each day of your holiday!
Get up close with bugs
Come and meet (and eat) some of the world’s best bugs at The Bug Farm, St Davids. This is a unique February half term activity that we’re sure you won’t forget! Get to know some fascinating invertebrates in the Tropical Bug Zoo, head to the Nature Hut for games, learning and crafts for the kids, and then finish the day off with a delicious meal at Grub Kitchen – yum!
Go Crabbing in Solva
Crabbing is an activity ‘for the kids’, that will soon have the adults completely engrossed too! All you need is a bucket, crab line, and the perfect bait to get started. Fair warning though, things can get competitive!
Remember that Solva Quay is a working harbour with boats coming and going. If you’re unsure where is best to set up for an afternoon’s crabbing, ask someone and they’ll point you in the right direction.

If you need to refuel while you’re in Solva, Mamgu Welshcakes is the place to go for a flavour of Wales. We recommend their breakfast menu, featuring Leek & Cheese Welshcakes and Crempogs (Welsh pancakes)! If you’re on the go, pick up a delicious coffee and a box of mixed welshcakes to enjoy on the beach or coast path.
Get bubbly at the Torch Theatre
Depending on which week your half term falls, book tickets to see The Amazing Bubble Man at the Torch Theatre in Milford, and have something to talk about the whole way home! Who knew there was more to bubbles than meets the eye? All will be revealed in this show that combines comedy, artistry and science.
Get up close with animals
Book an animal experience at Folly Farm and get to know the wonderful animals that call this farm home! Feed the lions, meet the rhinos and gaze at the giraffes.
Manor Park Wildlife Park also offer animal experiences and chances to ‘Be A Keeper’ for the day! Choose from gibbons, red pandas and even tigers on these incredible experiences that you and your little ones will remember for a long time to come!

Step back in time at Castell Henllys
Nestled in countryside in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is an Iron Age Fort, recreated where it would have stood 2000 years ago. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how our Welsh ancestors lived in a fun, interactive experience. Book to explore the fort and have a guided tour with one of the tribe. Or experience the Iron Age complete with slingshots, ancient stories and face paint! Book your experience here.
Get active at Heatherton World Of Activites
Want to really tire the kids out? Head to Heatherton World of Activities! Enjoy everything from zorbing and inflatable slides to mini golf and go karting for the younger members of the family. For those who want a bit more adrenaline, there’s also paintballing and a tree tops trail! This exciting day out will have you all snoozing in front of the log burner when you get back to your cottage by the sea.
Have an adventure
Enjoy the Pembrokeshire coastline to the maximum with a TYF Adventure this February Half Term. With adventures like climbing, coasteering and kayaking on offer, they offer a fabulous way to experience the St Davids Peninsula. If your children are a little younger, they also offer a Rockpool Safari to learn all about the creatures that call this coast home!
There’s so much to see and do this February half term that we’re sure that your trip to St Davids and its surroundings won’t disappoint – and we can guarantee that, if you stick to our list, the kids will sleep all the way home!
