Pembrokeshire is known for several things; it’s the only coastal national park in the UK, it’s home to the smallest city in the UK, and it produces some of the finest food in the UK. So when we compiled this list of the best places for a crab sandwich, we didn’t need to list them by preference – they’re all pretty amazing! All the crab going into these delicious sandwiches is locally caught. Whichever one of these venues you choose for your crab sandwich craving, we can guarantee that it’ll be something to write home about!

The Shed, Porthgain
The Shed is already well-known for being THE place in Pembrokeshire for the freshest fish and chips, but at lunchtime, they also serve a delicious crab sandwich. On a sunny day, if you get there early, you can sometimes watch the fisherman bringing the spider crabs off the boat. It doesn’t get fresher than that!

The Crab Shack At Bayview Stores, Solva
This ‘Little Shop That Sells A Lot’ was recently named the Best Village Shop in the UK, and so is an absolute must visit. If it’s a crab sandwich you’re after, be sure to stop at The Crab Shack outside. Pick up locally caught shellfish and oysters as well as beautiful Solva Crab sandwiches.

35 Main Street, Solva
Right in the heart of Solva, 35 Main Street is a go-to spot for local seafood lovers. Their crab sandwich is packed with fresh local crab and is the perfect lunch to enjoy before a stroll around the harbour or along the coast path.

St Davids Deli & Wine, St Davids
If you’re planning a beach picnic or a leisurely lunch on the Cross Square, make this one of your first stops. Their crab sandwich, served with lemon and rocket often sells out before lunchtime, so keep an eye out and if you see one available, don’t hang around for too long.

Quayside, Lawrenny
At the heart of Pembrokeshire National Park, nestled into Lawrenny’s waterfront is Quayside, a multi-award-winning tearoom. Their crab sandwich draws a crowd. Pair it with some of the best coffee in Pembrokeshire, or even a pitcher of Pimms on a sunny afternoon waterside.

Lobster & Mor, Little Haven
For something a little different, head to the village of Little Haven. It is a foodie’s heaven, with lots to try, but we highly recommend Lobster and Mor‘s takeaway lobster roll. Served from their seaside deli-style premises, we suggest a walk to The Point for the most gorgeous views to match the most gorgeous crab sandwiches!

Mrs Will The Fish, Solva
Want to eat your crab in the comfort of your beautiful St Davids Escapes cottage? Then look no further than the famous Mrs Will the Fish. Based in the centre of Solva, she offers the finest seafood platters in the west. Dressed crab, whole lobster and a variety of prawns are on offer, pulled straight from the Irish sea. Grab some fresh bread from the bakery at CK’s in St Davids and wash it down with something bubbly. Bliss!
If you fancy giving crabbing a go yourself (for the kind you put back!), then you’re in the perfect place to give it a try. Pick up all the gear from Bay View Stores and pop down to Solva Harbour. It’s a great way to wile away an afternoon watching the boats bob in the harbour
