Is there anything better on an autumn day, than taking that first sip of delicious, sweet hot chocolate? We don’t think so! Whether you’re wrapped up outdoors with the one you love or people-watching over a book in an independent cafe, you’re going to want to seek out the best places to get your hot chocolate fix on your Pembrokeshire holiday. Here are some of our favourites!
Nestled in the heart of Lower Solva, Mamgu Welshcakes is a unique, cosy and vibrant cafe serving up their delicious homemade welshcakes in a variety of flavours. Their hot chocolate is worth a try all year round, especially over Christmas with their Christmas drinks menu! Drink in and take in the atmosphere, or take away to drink on Solva harbour just a short walk away.
Location wise, you can’t do better than Whitesands Beach House. Perched on the car park of Whitesands Beach, this is your go-to for a drink to accompany your beach walk, or to warm up after a dip. They have their own winter drinks menu too! The Gingerbread Hot Chocolate is our personal favourite!
St Davids Cross Hotel
Standing in the centre of St Davids, this is an ideal spot whatever the weather. There is perfect people watching from the garden for those days of autumn sunshine, while the cosy bar area is great for snuggling up with a hot chocolate on chillier afternoons. Accompany yours with one of their delicious home made cakes for maximum comfort factor!
The Cornerhouse Cafe is a gem, just yards from the beach in Little Haven. Cosy up in their lovely, friendly cafe or grab a takeaway for a walk on the beach. Like all the best hot chocolates, this one comes with a little spoon to help you get through the mound of cream to the sweet chocolate underneath. If you’re drinking on the beach, this is best accompanied by a lobster roll from Lobster and Mor!
This one is a little further afield if you’re staying in and around St Davids. It is well worth the trip if you fancy experiencing the South Pembrokeshire coast! From Rolo Hot Chocolates to Mini Egg adorned beauties, the drinks offering here is reinvented all year round. Either drink outside and take in the coastal view, take away to the beach or (our favourite) drink alongside one of Wavecrest’s stunning afternoon teas!
We couldn’t leave this very special place off this list. One of the purest, most simple pleasures of time spent on the Pembrokeshire coast is grabbing a flask of hot chocolate and setting out to somewhere beautiful to enjoy time with a loved one. On a still day, you can’t do better than Carn Llidi. With panoramic views across Whitesands Bay, and the satisfaction of having climbed to the top, this is one of the best hot chocolate spots around!
Your cottage on the Pembrokeshire coast
And of course, there’s the unbeatable spot on the Pembrokeshire coast. After a day of walking, swimming, kayaking, exploring, beaching, and experiencing everything else this corner of the world has to offer, you have your perfect cottage in Pembrokeshire to return to. Make your hot chocolate however you like it, (perhaps with some ingredients picked up in beautiful St Davids shops like The Really Wild Emporium?) Then cwtch up in front of the log burner and soak up the quiet while planning your next adventure.
