It’s that time of year once again. The sunsets over Whitesands Bay in the late afternoon, the cwtches in front of the log burner, and trips to pick up some beautiful bits and pieces in St Davids’ local shops. As November draws to a close, our minds turn to the twinkly lights and warm times with loved ones over Christmas. Here are some fantastic things to do in Pembrokeshire over this festive period.

Special Evenings in St Davids

St Davids Cathedral at Christmas

The Cathedral is at the centre of advent for the people of St Davids, whether they are religious or simply value the traditions, music and beauty of this majestic place. There are so many events there at this time of year, but two have a firm place in our diary. The first is the Angel Trail Launch on the 21st December, which sees an interactive trail around the Cathedral close with lots of twinkly lights and stalls. Then of course there is the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on the 22nd, a beautiful evening that we look forward to every year. Find a full schedule of their events here!

Christmas lights switch-on – Saturday 4th December

Just what it says on the tin, with an extra dollop of Christmas cheer. The whole city gathers on Cross Square, sip on mulled wine and watch the lights sparkle on this special night. Some shops tend to open late and the pubs are havens from the coastal chill.

Christmas in Hollywood – Monday 20th December

This event looks like it’s going to be a fantastic addition to the St Davids festive calendar! Lots of toe-tapping, a fair bit of singing along and even a possible appearance from Father Christmas himself (if he can fit it into his busy schedule!)

See Santa – Saturday 18th December 5.30pm

Even if he doesn’t fit in Christmas in Hollywood, Santa has an appointment that he cannot miss. Wave and capture a bit of his magic as he makes his way from Oriel y Parc to Cross Square.

Then carry on down the hill to the Cathedral Christmas Fair, open from 10am – 3pm, with Carol Concert Cathedral Singers performing at 1pm!
